Capstar Tablets WILL kill fleas on your pet

Capstar

Capstar is a relatively new tablet that is given to your pet to kill the fleas. In my opinion it is the ‘gold treatment’ of flea drugs. It is only available from your vet on prescription

I recommend it fully as I have had first hand experience in how well it works. My husband and I offered to look after a young stray Cavalier Spaniel cross Rottweiler this year that was picked up wandering the streets. The person who found her on a cold Sunday afternoon realised that she was riddled with fleas and did not want them in her home. The RSPCA could only be contacted on the Monday and so we offered to have her in our home for the night. All I had in the cupboard was a course of Capstar that I had received from a drug rep. I quickly gave her just 1 little tablet and we all went to bed.

She cried in the utility room so I left her in the kitchen with our Labrador Slick who didn’t mind her noisy company. When I came down in the morning, there was a sight I had never seen before. The yellow kitchen vinyl was black with thousands on dead fleas. Capstar had worked like no other flea product I had ever seen! Our little lodger went off happily to the RSPCA with not a live flea left on her.

wCapstar is a tablet that can be given to dogs, cats, puppies and kittens and begins killing fleas almost immediately after administration. It will kill 95-100% of fleas in the first 6 hours and 100% in 24 hours.

How to use Capstar

Give Capstar whenever you see fleas on your pet according to the table below. Repeat on any subsequent day if fleas are again seen on your pet. It is not necessary to give Capstar more than once a day.

Weight of cat or dog treated

Number of tablets

1 – 11kg
1 tablet Capstar for cats and small dogs
11.1 – 57kg
1 tablet Capstar for large dogs
Above 57kg

2 tablets Capstar for large dogs

All the above tablets are given whenever you see fleas on your pet.

wCapstar tablets can be given directly into the mouth or can be mixed in a small portion of your pet’s favourite food and given immediately.

Which pets can be treated with Capstar?

wCapstar tablets can be given to dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.

wCapstar can be safely used in pregnant or lactating females as well as in breeding dogs and cats.

To help prevent reinfestation:

wCapstar rapidly removes the adult fleas you can see on your pet. Given that one flea can lay 200 eggs, 95% of any flea infestation is living as immature stages in the environment (eg home, kennel). For effective long term flea control, suitable treatments are available to break the flea lifecycle and control these immature stages thus preventing future infestations. All dogs and cats in the household should be treated with an appropriate product as I have mentioned in this site.

There are NO contraindications and the only undesirable side-effects are your pet scratching more than normal as the fleas react to the Capstar and wriggle a bit more before they die.

Special precautions for use:

wDo not use Capstar in kittens or puppies weighing less than 1kg or less than four weeks old.

wDo not use Capstar in large dog puppies that weigh less than 11kgs or are less than four weeks old.

wDo not give more than one treatment per day. If the problem persists, you must treat the environment too.

Storage conditions:

wDo not use the tablets after their expiry date. Do not store above 25C.

Caution

wKeep out of reach and sight of children.
